According to the US Department of Justice's report in 2016, "Ally Financial Inc. has agreed to pay the United States $52 million to settle allegations that its subsidiaries acted improperly in relation to 10 subprime residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS) in 2006 and 2007. A settlement agreementannounced today resolves an investigation into alleged violations of the Financial Institutions Reform Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA), specifically conduct related to the packaging, securitization, marketing, sale and issuance of the RMBS. Under the settlement agreement, Ally is required to pay a $52 million civil penalty and to immediately discontinue operations of its registered broker-dealer, Ally Securities, LLC, which served as the lead underwriter on the subprime RMBS at issue in this matter."

The QC and QA is very hard to maintain each month. The company is not organized or professional. The company only cares about making money. It’s very sad to work for a company that don’t pay much and it’s hard to get promoted. Cons: The location is far and the pay is low."

"The worst customer service in the world. I had to call because of an account issue on their end and the customer service agent was so rude and never once asked me my name, acct number, phone number, nothing. She just told me there was nothing Anyone There could do to fix it and hung-up on me."

My breaking point came when they refused to answer any methods of contact, including multiple times on hold for over 2 hours. Stocks that I owned would randomly disappear from my account and others unable to trade."

"Terrible. Trading platform goes down routinely. This week has been particularly bad. The platform has been down several days in a row and for most of each day, as near as I can tell. Then when I logged in this morning, my portfolio seems to have been swapped out with someone else's!! Can you imagine the shock I experienced early in the morning as I see around $300,000 of my wealth just disappear! And all they do is post a notice that they are getting reports that some people's holdings are inaccurate. Yeah, no kidding! Plus their app sucks. I have no idea whether this will get fixed, but this is absolutely inexcusable. Stay far away from Ally.com for your trading needs. They are incompetent and then you can't access their customer support because you wait on hold for far too long (53 minutes as I write this). When I have access their support in the past, their reps are incompetent and tell you different things about the same problem. And to add insult, they just shut down their online chat feature!!"

"Ally Financial is NOT what they claim to be. I wished I didn’t have to deal with them. During this pandemic I’ve been out of work for a bit over three months. Had not been in that much of a deficit with my car payments however, I got behind some since being off work with COVID-19. I call Ally to see what options I had to get back on track. They offered “two” bull crap “options” one of which included paying a large sum of money up front to enter into a deferment plan for only two months. If I had the money to pay today I would not have called to see what options were out there to rehabilitate myself with these payments! These finance companies make money hand over fist and have ridiculous fees most times. They act like they going to get shut down if you require assistance at times. Then at the end of the call the agent was just like, “Ok Ma’am if you can’t pay anything today then there’s no other option for you”. and then asked me, “Is there anything else I can do for you today?” Say what? NO! You haven’t done anything in the first place...Goodbye! So over them."

"Billpay check arrived 3 weeks late resulting in a $10 late fee and since I already wrote a replacement check, Ally charged me $15 to void the original $500 check and refund the money to me."

"I had Ally to finance a vehicle. Rude and unprofessional customer service. Transferred my loan to my local Key Bank and paid off 38k price of the car. I will not recommend them to anyone. First payment was late as i did not receive letter in time. They kept on charging me penalties depite I made 2 and 3 payments together to compensate. As per Allys representatives those fines were computer generated and they could not do anything about it. Worse lender with high fines and rude customer service."

"Disappointed with ally. I had been a 5 days late on my car payment which I NEVER am. I was recently laid off because of COVID at the beginning of December, got employed with a temporary agency at the end of December to keep income coming in but it was a huge pay cut. I was on the website trying on figure out about late fee and what other offers are available (per website we are here to help during COVID). I did not have any options available when I was logged in and was advise to call to speak with someone. I called and spoke with shya and explained the situation she transferred me to another representative (in collections) I had to re-explain the issue . She advise me that she could not help me with an attitude (even though their website say their here to help?) I ask to speak with a supervisor, and she would not let me I was told that she needed to put in a call back. She said give me a few minute to put the request in, She said i need to get the system up am gone to place you on hold. I sat on hold for 5 mins before she disconnected the call. I called right back to and requested to speak with a supervisor/ some one higher than the prior to rep's i spoke with , They got me transfer over to a supervisor/escalations some one who attempted to help. Put in a request for an extension and advise me to call back next week to check status. This was December 18th. I called back as requested and got on hold of Girad who was just a rude. I explain to him why I was calling and what I needed . He told me all 4 of my request had been denied. (4 request ???) How is there 4 request when all representatives but 1 attempted to help. That when i ask if I could speak with a supervisor again. He attempted not to transfer me but after a little back and fourth he finally got a supervisor on the line. I tried to ask the "supervisor" why are all the request submitted when your representatives told me that can not help. But all he would talk about was how there system rejected the request . I advise him that extension was no longer the problem. The problems was with the representatives that lied and said they couldn't help but still put request in and how is this helping their customers. He would still not answer the question. Stated that the collections department is different than customer service........................ Collections ???? How is a collections supervisor on the phone , when I prior collections representative advise me a call back request needed to be submitted..... WOW again nothing but lies with ALLY. Then I requested a manager someone at the top, but of course they say its gone to be a call back, guess we will see how this goes. ALLY IS THE WORST FINANCIAL COMPANY NEVER. THEIR EMPLOYEES ARE RUDE, DO NOT KNOW THERE JOB, THEY LIE , HAVE NO INTERGITY. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH ALLY AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM ."

"Having lesaed vehicles for over 20 years the last time was with ally and it was HORRIBLE! During covid we extended our lease. We never got any type of billing during this time. We were on our own. Then my I was quarantined and my husband had COVID when our vehicle was due back....Ally says on website "We are here to help during COVID" I asked for another month..another PAID month not free. They refused to budge and said it was 40 dollars a day fine. For days I tried to get ahold of them by phone and after 2-3 hours on hold just hung up. When I got ahold of them we had a smart ass who was impossible to talk to. Anyway because of illness and my husband being in the hospital with COVID we were fined over 900.00 before we could return the car. Mind you I wanted to pay another month right away and they said no extension. Yet we just got another Jeep and they gave us a 36 month lease with ALLY!! Longer than what we were asking for in our previous lease. We are just hard working honest people who pay our bills and Ally screwed us over right before Christmas when we needed money in our worst time of need. Even though their website said "We are here to help during COVID. We paid our bill as we always due but I get ill when I see the Ally name anywhere now."

"If I could give a zero I would! My auto loan account was charged twice in the end of September. At the end of October I was charged a full amount again. All Ally can do is to send out a check with the waiting period of 10-14 days. Meanwhile my bank account is on minus and I have other bills pending. This is not the first time this has happened with this company. I am thoroughly disgusted with how they treat their customers."

"Ally auto finance dept is very unorganized!! During the pandemic Ally sent out a lease extension agreement and I had made a payment based on that agreement. After I returned the car, Ally sent the account settlement letter that I still have to pay the amount due that’s not the same as the lease extension agreement!! Even I got the proofs of agreement. Reps said it got sent out automatically but the agreement meant nothing!! He kept saying that I gotta pay that amount!! He said things didn’t make any sense!! He interrupted while I was giving the info about the issue!! Very poor service!!! My first time with Ally and it will be my LAST TIME with Ally. Very sorry for the company to have this kind of employees!!!"

"DO NOT do any business with this company. All I needed was a lien release letter and they kept saying they'd fax it. The fax never showed to either of the 2 numbers I gave them. They lie and you will get a different answer from each person you have the displeasure of speaking with. It took them a whole week to miraculously fax me my lien release. Even when I asked them to send it via FedEx, one person would say they don't do that. The next person would say ok and do it. Worst company ever. I've read reviews where people said they had to threaten to sue just to get them to do their jobs and send them what they need."
